Louella Earlene Shafer age 81 of Coffeyville passed away on February 22, 2020 at her home.
Earlene was born in Coffeyville on December 7, 1938 to William and Louella “Merchant” Glidewell. She was raised in Coffeyville and attended local grammar schools and Field Kindley High School. Little did Earlene know that while on a blind date during high school she would meet her soul mate to whom she would share and treasure the next 64 years with. The day after her birthday, December 8, 1955 she was united in marriage to Bob Shafer. To this union the couple was blessed with three sons and a daughter. Earlene loved being a mother and a wife, her husband and children were always her top priority. She always stayed busy helping her church out in any manner that she could, she was the Sunday School Superintendent, the youth leader, member of the choir, and a very faithful member of the First Church of God. Earlene worked for Nugift and later owned and operated Delightfully Yours Gift Shop and Shafer Rental Agency. She enjoyed interior designing, traveling, trips to Branson, going out for dinner, going to car shows where she won many trophies and best in show with her 58 Ford Thunderbird, collecting many dolls and right below the love of her family, she loved shopping. She was a member of the PTA, Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, the past president of the AARP, member of the Good Sam’s Club, Red Hat Society, and Senior City Planning Board. Although she stayed busy with her church and community, Earlene was always a wife, mom, and nana making sure her family was always taken care of.
Earlene’s memories will live on with her children; Ric Shafer his wife Wanda, Stan Shafer, Bob Shafer Jr his wife Gina, and Kathy Turner her husband Justin, 13 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.
She now rests with her parents and beloved husband Bob, and grandson Daniel Shafer.
