Louise Chappell

Louise I. Chappell, 93, of Coffeyville, Kansas died Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She was born January 18, 1917 in St. Paul, Kansas to Joseph Sterk and Mary G. Smith Sterk. Louise was raised and attended schools in St. Paul and Parsons, Kansas. She spent some time living overseas before returning to the states and spending most of her adult life as a homemaker. She had worked for the munitions plant in Parsons during WWII and later in life she worked with the elderly in Topeka, Kansas. She valued her love for family highly and was considered the family historian. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed the Atlanta Braves, tennis and golf. Louise liked to play bridge and loved dogs. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville. She was preceded in death by her four sisters and daughter Marilyn. Survivors include: Brothers Joseph Sterk and James Sterk of Coffeyville and Charles Sterk of Greensboro, North Carolina, grandsons Richard Crandon of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Danny Weeks of Topeka, granddaughter Lynda Caldwell of Parsons, Kansas and numerous loving great and greatgreat grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Humane Society. A funeral mass for Louise I. Chappell will be said at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 10:00a.m. She will be privately inurned at Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville.
