Coffeyville resident Louise Burden died on Thursday, November 16,2006 in Coffeyville,Kansas. She was 89. She was born in Montgomery county on April 29, 1917 to Arthur Clinton and Maude M. James Whitaker. She attended school through the eigth grade at Cedar Creek Rural School in Montomery County. She moved with her parents to Chetopa in 1930 where she graduated from Chetopa High School in 1934. On July 13, 1936 she married Robert Burden in Oswego. Robert served in the United States Army during WWII and Lousie lived and worked in Chetopa while he was away. After his discharge in 1946, they moved to Coffeyville where Robert was employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad until his retirement. Lousie was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and Keystone Sunday School Class. She is survived by a son Stephen Burden of the home; three sisters Mary Hulsey and Edna Doak of Coffeyville, and Ruth Martin of Derby; there are several nieces and nephews. Lousie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on April 16, 1984, and two sisters. Greveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 in the Plesant Valley Cemetery in Rural Oswego, Ks. Reverend John Collins of the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville will officiate. Services are under the direction of the Penwell-Gabel-Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Sunday, November 19, 2006 from 1PM until 9PM and on Monday, November 20, 2006 from 9AM until 9PM at the Penwell-Gabel-Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funera Home to sigh the guest register. Memorials may be given to The Keystone Sunday School Class of the First United Metodist Church or to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, and they can be left at the Funeral Home.
