Lovena Hittle, 101, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at Wichita Presbyterian Manor. Lovena was born on June 27, 1907 in Altamont, Kansas, the daughter of Cleve and Alta Bringle Taylor. She graduated from Labette County High School. On July 21, 1928 she married Lester Hittle in Oswego, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1964. She retired as a grade school teacher after 33 years of dedication to her students. Lovena was a member of Edna United Methodist Church of Edna, Kansas. She was also a 50 year member of Eastern Star and a charter member of ADK Teacher Sorority, joining in 1951. Surviving to honor her memory is her daughter, Marlene Stine and husband, Dean, of Wichita, Kansas; grandson, Steve Stine and wife, Terri of San Antonio, Texas; grandson-in-law, Pat ONelio of Wichita, Kansas; four great grandchildren, Nick and Dommi ONelio and Shea and Taylor Stine. Also preceding her in death are her parents; son, Wayne Hittle; daughter, Lois Price; two brothers, Eldon and Wayne Taylor and granddaughter, Marla ONelio. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2008 at Edna United Methodist Church, Edna Kansas. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in North Edna Cemetery in Edna, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given in Lovenas name to Edna United Methodist Church or the Presbyterian Manor in Wichita, Kansas in care of Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Avenue, PO Box 468, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
