Loy Lindsay Haas, 88, of Branson, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at her home at The Oaks Retirement Center in Branson.
Loy was born on September 15, 1926 in Portland, Colorado to Irving C. and Hazel (McMahon) Holland. The family moved to Coffeyville, Kansas where Loy attended Coffeyville schools until the 11th grade. She attended Lenapah high school her senior year, graduating with the class of 1943.
On August 12, 1945 she was united in marriage to Roscoe Lindsay, of that union three children were born. Roscoe preceded her in death in April of 1959.
On October 6, 1972 she was married to Clyde Haas and the couple made Coffeyville their home.
They both worked for the City of Coffeyville. She was the Executive Secretary to five different City Managers during her 20+ years of service to the City. After retirement the couple traveled almost all of the United States in their fifth wheel travel trailer. They enjoyed many adventures during those years. Clyde preceded her in death in May of 1988. In 2009 Loy moved to the Oaks Retirement Center in Branson, Missouri.
She enjoyed doing volunteer work in the community, many would remember her time as a Pink Lady at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center; as a volunteer at the American Red Cross; as a Literacy Tutor for Whittier Elementary School or, for the many years she and Clyde delivered food to many people for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville. Loy had a passion for dancing, bowling and most of all for people. She loved the time she spent surrounded by her family and friends.
Surviving to honor her memory are her children, Larry Lindsay of Branson, Missouri, Lisa Akard and husband, Patrick of Manhattan, Kansas; Lana Logan and husband, John of Branson, Missouri; grandchildren, Amanda Lindsay, Mike Lindsay and wife, Susan, Megan Cusano and husband, Chris, Andrew Akard, Elizabeth Williamson and husband, Bryan, Patrick Logan; great grandchildren, Payton and Garrett Fayed, Hunter and Hailey Lindsay, Katie and Ryan Cusano, Lindsay and Kaylee Williamson, Piper Logan; a sister, Joyce Meier of Kankakee, Illinois.
In addition to Roscoe and Clyde, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Irving and
Hazel; brother, Jack Holland and a sister, Jeanne Smith.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. A Graveside Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas. Senior Pastor, Dr. J. Dean McNamara will officiate. All friends are welcome to attend.
The family suggests memorial contributions can be made payable to the American Red Cross; these may also be left with the funeral home.
