Lucile Martin Beindorff, 93, of South Coffeyville, OK passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008. She was born April 3, 1915 to John and Hazel Brown Martin near the Oklahoma state line, south of Coffeyville, KS. The family later moved to Mockingbird Hill Farm, southwest of the city and Lucile began her education at Banks School. From 1932 until 1941, she worked as a ticket agent for the Union Interurban and Bus Station, located in the Terminal Building, 8th and Walnut in Coffeyville. In 1941 she married, William H. Beindorff, who was manager of the Union Bus Terminal of Tulsa, OK. They later lived in Independence, KS and then Albuquerque, NM where Lucile worked at Sandia Air Force Base. In 1960, the Beindorffs moved to Colorado Springs, CO and purchased a specialty fabric store which she ran until 1970 when she returned to the land of her roots, Coffeyville. She worked several years at KGGF before retiring. Her interests included reading, sewing, and music. Her hobby was finding homes for stray animals. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, South Coffeyville, OK where she was the pianist. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and her sister, Violet. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Robbins Cemetery, west of Coffeyville. Friends may call on Monday from 12 noon until 9 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel where the family will receive friends that evening from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to South Coffeyville United Methodist Church.
