Lucille Preston Farris, 91, Round Rock, Texas and formerly of Coffeyville, Kansas, died early Saturday morning, April 23, 2011 at A Touch of Home Assisted Living Facility in Round Rock. Lucille was born October 25, 1919 at Edna, Kansas to Ernest B. and Edna B. Johnson Preston. She graduated from the Edna school system and the Parsons Business University. Following her education, Lucille moved to Topeka, Kansas and was employed in Governor Payne Ratners office as a secretary. During World War II, she moved to Wichita, Kansas and was employed at Cessna Aircraft. Several years later, Lucille moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, working as a secretary for Standard Oil amp Gas Company and Gulf Oil Company, retiring in 1951. On March 17, 1951, she married Prentice H. Farris in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Due to Mr. Farris military career, the couple lived in various military duty stations. Following Mr. Farris military career, the couple lived in Wichita and Ft. Worth, Texas for 20 years before moving to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas in 1990. In 2006, the couple moved to Temple, Texas. Mr. Farris passed away in his home April 9, 2010. Mrs. Farris attended church faithfully throughout her life, including First Baptist Church in Edna, Southcliff Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, and Barcelona Road Baptist Church in Hot Springs Village. Her hobbies included crafts, painting, ceramics, calligraphy, sewing, and working crossword puzzles, and she enjoyed spending time with her many dear friends. She was a devoted mother and wife. Mrs. Farris is survived by one son, David Preston Farris of Beaumont, Texas a daughter, Debra Kim Farris of Austin, Texas and one granddaughter, Ayla J. Farris of Galveston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents by one sister, Lavonne Bryson and by her husband, Prentice. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 2, 2011 at North Edna Cemetery, Edna, Kansas. Services and interment are under the direction of PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel, Coffeyville. Visitation will be Sunday, 16pm at the funeral home.
