Lucille Lewis Ford, widow of Clare S. Ford and a longtime Coffeyville resident, passed away September 29, 2005, in Davidson, North Carolina. Mr. and Mrs. Ford formerly operated the Ford Funeral Home in Coffeyville from 1942 to 1981. Born Lucille Lewis Bottom on October 15, 1917, Teal was the only child of Theodore Lewis and Lucille Alice Bottom. She graduated a physical education major at the University of Kansas in 1938. At KU she joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, remaining an active lifetime member. Upon graduation from KU, Teal moved to Coffeyville to teach in the public schools. Here she met and married Clare S. Ford in 1942. While living in Coffeyville, Teal was active in many community affairs. A longtime member of the Presbyterian Church, she taught Sunday school, served as Deacon, and was actively involved in Presbyterian Women. She was a life member of the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, participating as a Pink Lady; and active with the Red Cross Auxiliary, assisting for many years in their blood drives. She had a fifty-year association with Chapter DR of PEO, belonged to the local chapter of the American Association of University Women and was a member of the Daughters of the Nile. An avid bridge player, Teal enjoyed her two bridge clubs and her book review club. Mrs. Ford is survived by her three daughters, Nancy Lewis Stangland and husband, Stephen of San Diego, California; Patricia Ann Hall and husband, Bruce of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Janet Clare Craven and husband, Allen of Concord, North Carolina. Grandchildren are David Stangland and wife Karen of Del Mar, California; Pamela Stangland of Tustin, California; David Hall and wife Rosanne of Tampa, Florida; John Hall of Eugene, Oregon; Stephen Hall of New Haven, Connecticut; Ford Craven of Concord, North Carolina; and two great-grandchildren, Emily Stangland and Joshua Hall. She will be remembered for the love she gave to her family, her beautiful smile and her many friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 22nd at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel at 11 a.m.. The family will receive friends after the service.
