Lucille Louise Heady, age 83, passed away early Monday evening, August 14, 2006 at her home after a long illness. She was born March 28, 1923 in Coffeyville to Miriam Gabel and Colonel Kindrick. She graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1940 and Coffeyville Community Junior College in 1942. To help with the WWII war effort, she worked for the Treasury Department in Washington, DC. She married Bill R. Heady in 1945 in Joplin, MO and they made their home in Coffeyville. He proceded her in death. She worked in Coffeyville as a secretary for the gas company, Continental Can, Dr. Clarke Bumgarner, and spent 31 years working for the Engineering Department for the City of Coffeyville. During her time at the City she worked on the Planning Commission, the Zoning and Planning Commission and help create the City Employees Credit Union. She also was a Girl Scout Leader and a Cub Scout Leader. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary and served as past President. She is survived by her son Clay, his wife Ruth Ann of Germantown, TN and their children Natalie and Jason Bryant of Mont Holly, NC, Heather of Knoxville, TN and Mark of the home; her daughter Constance, her husband Mark Layton of Catoosa, OK and their children Bill Miller and his wife Audrey and their children Danielle and Blake of South Coffeyville, OK, Candace and her husband Chris Crawley and their children Robert, Kristien and Caleb of Albermarle, NC; John Miller of Claremore, OK and his children Lance, Cody, and Lakin; Danny Miller of Independence, KS and his child Raven; her daughter Crystal Joy Proman of the home and her child Angelique Reel and her children Nathaniel and Robert Raffety and Tiffany and Christian Windsor; her brother Walter Kindrick of Terra Haute, IN; her sister Doris Johnson of Humboldt, KS; her sister Margaret and her husband Leon Windle of Lawrenceville, GA and her sister-in-law Virginia Kindrick of Placentia, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert, her sister Georgia, her granddaughter Misty Windsor, her great granddaughter Gwendolyn Miller, her great grand-nieces Kimberly Richards and Amy Switzer. Mrs. Heady will lie in state on Wednesday, August 16 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Pennwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, KS. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM at Pennwell-Gabel Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Paster Larry W. Cracraft will be officiating.
