Luella A Holmes age 91 of Coffeyville was welcomed to her eternal home on May 27, 2018.
Luella was born on December 23, 1926 in Marshfield, MO to Thomas Marion and Bessie Agnes (Dotson) Carter. She attended Cedar Bluff School and graduated from Field Kindley High School. She continued her education in Trade School receiving her certificate in Business. Luella worked for various companies around the area as a bookkeeper. She met Richard Holmes and they were united in marriage on December 7, 1958 in Miami, OK. To this union the couple was blessed with three daughters. Luella loved cooking, she enjoyed bowling, and doing word search puzzles, crocheting, and she loved reading the word of God. She especially loved prophecy, she was devoted in studying Revelations. Luella was a past member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church where she taught a Sunday School class and lead a Ladies Bible Study. She recently was a devoted member of the First Assembly of God Church. Those that knew Luella will always remember her upbeat loving personality and her contagious laugh.
Luella's memories will live on with her daughter, Nancy Holmes, and several nieces and nephews.
She now rests with her parents, her husband Richard Holmes, daughters Tammy Jo Holmes and Anna Marie Holmes, brothers Leonard Carter his wife Nadine and Lewis Carter his wife Pauline, sisters Carmen Louise Carter, Mildred White her husband Edwin, and Edith Cochran her husband Gene.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 2:00pm at the First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Randy DePriest officiating. Interment will immediately follow at the Veteran's Memorial Patio at Fairview Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made payable to the Alzheimer's Association and they may be sent in care of Ford-Wulf-Burns Chapel 2405 Woodland Ave. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
