Lula Charline Shearhart, 65, of Wayside, Kansas, went to her heavenly home on Friday, November 21, 2008 at Via Christi Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was born October 9, 1943 to Charlie L. Croney and Lula Oline Frair Croney at Dustin, Oklahoma. She grew up in Wichita, Howard and Longton, Kansas. She worked for Emerson Electric in Independence, Kansas for 25 years, retiring in 1999. Lula married Ed Shearhart on May 11, 2000 at Coffeyvilles First Baptist Church and the couple made Wayside their home since 2001. She enjoyed gardening and quilting and reading. Survivors include her husband, Ed Shearhart of the home in Wayside; four children, Corrina Wilson and her husband, Stan, Mona Purkey, Dale Shipman and his wife, Beverly, all of Coffeyville and Eddie Shearhart and his wife, Christy of Goddard, Kansas; three brothers, A.W. Dub Croney and his wife, Wilma of Sherman, Texas and Frank Croney and his wife, Jesse and Terry Croney and his wife, Patti, all of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters, Donna Baumgartel and her husband, John of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and Wilma Newkirk of Independence, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Clark Wilson of Chicago, Illinois, Michelle Purkey of Independence, Kansas, Rachel Purkey of Coffeyville, Tess Dobrick of Atchison, Kansas, Christopher Walker of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Trisha and Tamica Walker, both of Wichita and Hailey Shearhart of Goddard; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Brutus. Funeral service for Lula Charline Shearhart will be held 2p.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Homes Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville with Dr. Wayne Norton officiating. Interment will be in Harrisonville Cemetery, northeast of Tyro, Kansas, under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Cemetery, Coffeyville. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Family will receive friends 7-8 p.m., Monday. Donations may be made to the American Kidney Foundation in care of the funeral home in honor of Mrs. Shearhart.
