Manuel Bustos age 84, of Coffeyville, KS passed away on February 3, 2016 at his residence.
Manuel was born on October 26, 1931 in Independence, KS to Isaac and Valentina (Honesto) Bustos. He attended and graduated from Independence High School, continued his education at ICC, and then at Pittsburg State University. After college he joined the United States Army, where he proudly served for 2 years, and then transferred to the Army Reserve, where he served 8 years. Manuel then went to work for John Deere, formerly known as Funk Manufacturing, until his retirement. He married Jane Thomason and they were blessed with two children. He later married Maria Campbell and she preceded him in death 2012.
Left to honor his memory is his son James and wife Winona Bustos of Reseda, CA, daughter Karen Rogers, brothers Louis Bustos of Coffeyville, Joe Bustos of Independence, KS, sisters Delphina Savedra of Independence, MO, and Amelia Carr of Independence, KS, granddaughter Amanda Rogers, and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 5 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday February 10, 2016 at Holy Name Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with Father Chad Arnold officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Independence. Friends are invited to sign the register on Tuesday at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. The family has suggested memorials to donor's choice.
