Margie Lorene Wood age 90 of Coffeyville passed away on June 13, 2019 at Windsor Place.
Lorene was born on January 6, 1929 in Henryetta, OK to Carl and Florence (Redford) Ross. She was raised in the Sapulpa area where she attended school. During her time in school she worked as a carhop at the local drive in dinner. Lorene was always proud of the fact that her sister and she had decided they wanted their GED's and went back and worked hard to earn them. It was while working at a Woolworths that Lorene met a coworker by the name of Lynn Wood, the couple began dating and on September 16, 1948 they were united in marriage. She was blessed with six children, five sons and a daughter. She loved her children fiercely, and their dreams became her dreams. She was defiantly a mom of boys, she didn't shy away from playing in the dirt or getting down on the ground to leg wrestle. The family had moved all across the surrounding states, making stops in Oklahoma, Nebraska, Arkansas, Texas and finally making Coffeyville home. Lorene loved to read, it was her favorite past time and she had always wanted to own a bookstore, when coming to Coffeyville they didn't find a bookstore but she bought Scarlett's Hallmark Store and she loved every second of it. Lorene enjoyed working crossword puzzles, watching movies, bowling, and going camping in their converted school bus to Beaver Lake. Lorene spent her life being a caregiver; to her children, her husband, and to her sisters, she did it because she loved them dearly.
Lorene's memories will live on with her husband of 70 years Lynn Wood, sons; Terry Wood his wife Kay, Jay Dee Wood, Lawton Wood his wife Audrey, and Chuck Wood his wife Sharon, daughter Nancy Williams her husband Ken, 29 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She now rests with her parents, her son Carl Edward Dye, sisters; Lavada Graham, Carlos Thomason, Bobbie Jean Wertz, an infant brother, and grandsons Arlo Hill and Bryce Wood.
