Marilyn Edith Atkins, age 68, of Coffeyville and formerly of Arkansas City, passed away on October 26, 2015 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City.
Born on May 2, 1947, Marilyn was the daughter of Donald and Opal (Smothermon) Bloyd. She attended grade school in Coffeyville and graduated from Field Kindley High School. Marilyn went on to receive her Associates Degree from Cowley County Community College. Marilyn lived in Ark City and worked in customer service for Rubbermaid. In 1985 she married Mike Atkins who preceded her in death in 2002. After the passing of her mother in 2007 Marilyn moved back to Coffeyville.
Marilyn enjoyed gardening, knitting many handmade gifts, and volunteering at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice to make shawls for patients. She was also known for her faithful recycling trying to do her part to help. Marilyn was a very sweet and kind person who always found the best in a person.
Left to honor her memory is her son Craig Coday, daughter Kim Coday, sister Linda Hale her husband Lonnie, and 3 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Mike.
Honoring her wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Monday November 2, 2015 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplin Mike Graham of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice officiating. Friends are invited to sign the register book on Friday October 30, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The family suggests memorials to the Arthritis Foundation and may be left with the Chapel.
