MARION ESTELLE WEEKS MARION WEEKS, AGE 92, PASSED AWAY FRIDAY DECEMBER 16, AFTER AN EXTENDED ILLNESS, AT WINDSOR PLACE NURSING HOME IN COFFEYVILLE, KS. MARION WAS BORN OCTOBER 22, 1913, IN COFFEYVILLE, KANSAS TO BENJAMIN AND BLANCHE Exner MORGAN. HER GRANDPARENTS WERE JESSIE K. AND MARY JANE MORGAN AND JOSEPH EDWARD AND NANNIE R. EXNER. SHE WAS IN THE FIRST GRADUATING CLASS OF FIELD KINDLEY HIGH SCHOOL. SHE WAS A GRADUATE OF COFFEYVILLE JUNIOR COLLEGE AND SELECTED FOOTBALL QUEEN. SHE RECEIVED A SOCIOLOGY DEGREE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA WHERE SHE WAS A MEMBER OF CHI OMEGA. AFTER GRADUATION SHE WORKED AT THE KANSAS CITY FIRE, MARINE INSURANCE COMPANY AND THEN AS A SOCIAL WORKER IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, KS. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF TWO YEARS IN COLORADO SPRINGS AND HER TIME IN COLLEGE, SHE LIVED HER ENTIRE LIFE IN COFFEYVILLE. ON NOVEMBER 24, 1940, SHE MARRIED GEORGE ELTON WEEKS; THE COUPLE RECENTLY CELEBRATED THEIR 65TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. THEY HAVE ONE SON, GEORGE BUD WEEKS WHO, WITH HIS WIFE MARCIA, LIVE IN PITTSBURG, KS. MARION IS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER PARENTS AND SISTER JEANETTE CASIDA. IN ADDITION TO HER HUSBAND AND SON, SHE IS SURVIVED BY ONE NEPHEW, KEN CASIDA AND WIFE CAROLINE OF VISALIA, CA. AND ONE NIECE, KAY ROSS, AND HUSBAND JIM OF SAN ANTONIO, TX. SHE HAS 1 GREAT NIECE, 2 GREAT NEPHEWS AND A TOTAL OF 6 GREAT-GREAT NEPHEWS AND NIECES WHILE BEING A HOMEMAKER, MARION WAS INVOLVED IN HER CHURCH, FIRST PRESBYTERIAN, SERVING AS DEACON, TEACHING SUNDAY SCHOOL AND PARTICIPATING IN WOMENS AND YOUTH MINISTRIES. ADDITIONALLY, SHE WAS ACTIVE IN THE EZ CHAPTER OF P.E.O.SERVING AS PRESIDENT SEVERAL TIMES, TICKER TAPE INVESTMENT CLUB, BRIDGE CLUB, RED CROSS, CUB SCOUTS SERVING AS DEN MOTHER, BOOK REVIEW CLUB, AND RESEARCH CLUB. SHE ALSO ENJOYED COOKING, GARDENING, CARING FOR NUMEROUS PETS AND MANY FAMILY ACTIVITIES. TRAVEL WAS A SPECIAL INTEREST AND SHE VISITED MANY COUNTRIES INCLUDING THE HOLY LAND, WALKING WHERE JESUS WALKED. THE FAMILY GIVES GRATEFUL APPRECIATION TO HER DEDICATED CAREGIVERS. SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 402 WEST 8TH STREET, COFFEYVILLE, AT 1:30 PM, WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 21, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF PENWELL-GABEL Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas. BURIAL WILL BE IN FAIRVIEW CEMETERY. VISITATION WILL BE TUESDAY DECEMBER 20, FROM 8 AM-8 PM, AT PENWELL-GABEL IN COFFEYVILLE, FAMILY WILL BE PRESENT FROM 4-6 PM. MEMORIALS MAY BE GIVEN TO THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH WOMENS AND YOUTH MINISTRIES OR HARRY HYNES MEMORIAL HOSPICE.
