Martha Lee Hyatt was received into the arms of her Lord and Savior at the age of 86 in Coffeyville, Kansas on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Medicalodge on Midland where she and her husband have resided for several years.
Martha was born on June 25, 1936, to Harve A. and Gladys (Tobin) Redburn in Erie, Kansas. Martha’s parents along with her six siblings moved several times before returning to Erie. Martha attended grade school in rural Erie completing her education at Erie High School.
Martha being a beautiful young woman caught the eye of George Sherman Hyatt. After a brief courtship, the two were wed on Christmas day in 1953, in Shaw, Kansas. The couple just celebrated their 69th Wedding Anniversary together. George and Martha started their home in Parsons, Kansas and moved to Caney where they resided for a few years prior to making Coffeyville there forever home. Martha and George had five children, losing two sons at birth.
Martha and her family attended Coffeyville Bible Church formerly known as the Church of the Open Door. Martha loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother, she truly enjoyed being a homemaker. She was an accomplished cake decorator and always made an elaborate celebration and special cake for her husband, children, and grandchildren for their birthdays. Martha also enjoyed gardening, crafting, playing the piano and bird watching.
Martha’s family will morn her loss and will cherish God’s gift of memories. She is survived by her husband George Sherman Hyatt, they shared more years together than ever apart in this life; her children who call her mom are Craig Hyatt and wife Rose, Randy Hyatt and wife Mary, LeeAnn Williams and husband Mike; her grandchildren, Megan and Zachary Hyatt, those she loved as her own grandchildren, Holly Shupp and husband Billy, Ethan Williams and great grandchild Abigail Schupp. In addition to her parents Martha was preceded in death by infant sons, Kenneth Wade and Phillip Wayne Hyatt; siblings Harold, Ray and Rollo Redburn, Flo Hoagland, Freda Lindquist and Merry Jovalene Heaton, grandson Johnathan Workman.
Funeral services celebrating Martha’s life will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 10:00 am at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas. She will be laid to rest next to her infant sons in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons, Kansas.
