Mary Burris

Mary Burris, 74 of Coffeyville passed away at her home May 10, 2013 after a short illness.
Mary was born in Liberal, Missouri to Edgar and Allene Beasley, and graduated Liberal High School in 1956. In 1957, she married Henry Burris Sr. and settled in Nevada, MO where they had four children. They later divorced and then remarried in 1985, until his death in 1985. In 1969, she married Charles Borggren and they moved to Coffeyville in 1972 where they had one child. They divorced in 1979. Mary then made her home on Pine Street in Coffeyville for the 35 years, until 2007 when it was destroyed in the flood. She lived out her final years in the Manor House.

Mary worked in food service for over 40 years, including Caesars restaurant and Jennies Caf before joining U.S.D. 445 as a cafeteria worker at Holy Name School. In 1994, Mary went to work for Coffeyville Community College at the Student Union where she was part of the team that created at the time a Guinness record for the longest sandwich. She retired in 2000. During, those years she also served as a school crosswalker at 11th and Pine for Lowell School students.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband and Grandson Dustin J. Burris. She is survived by five children, Rosemary Neal, Carthage, MO, Pam Newsome of Midway, GA., Connie Moore and Henry Junior Burris Jr. of Coffeyville, and Christie Sackett of Blackwell, OK. seven Grandchildren, Michael Zillifro, and Sandra Hudson, Teena Sphar, Channing Moore, and Samantha and Billie Burris nine GreatGrandchildren and one GreatGreatGrandchild. Mary also includes as her own, the Roy and Cynthia Hodges family of Havana.
Visitation will be at FordWulfBruns on Monday May 13, 2013 from 128 and the family will receive friends from 68. The funeral service will be at FordWulf Bruns on Tuesday May 14, 2013 at 2pm with burial following at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be sent to Harden Hospice of Parsons, KS.
