Mary King

Mary Frances Fowler King was born on March 22, 1924 near Joplin, Missouri and passed into heaven on June 16, 2012 after a short stay at Rosewood Healthcare Skilled Nursing facility in Independence, MO. She was the sixth child born to Jack Fowler and Rose Williams Fowler. She married William Bill Edwin King on September 21, 1940 and together they raised three children in Coffeyville, KS. Bill passed away on May 6, 1994. Mary worked at Landers Grocery Store during the first few years of her married life. The remaining years were spent as a homemaker and mother. She loved to garden and everyone stopped to admire her prized, deep pink, cockscomb flowers. She moved to John Knox Village retirement community in Lees Summit, MO in 2001 to be near her daughter and her family in Kansas City, MO. There she lived independently until October 2011, when a fall caused her to need additional assistance and she moved to Lamar Court Assisted Living in Overland Park, KS. She lived there until another fall in March forced her to move to Rosewood Healthcare. Mary was a lifelong member of the First Assembly of God Church where she enjoyed Womens Ministries church services in both Coffeyville and Lees Summit. Mary was trulyblessed everyone will remember her by this common response when asked about her wellbeing. She is survived by her three children, Pamela Seymour husband Jayson of Kansas City, MO Larry King wife Arden and Billy Joe King partner Norma Coockin all of Portland, OR five grandchildren, Lori Moser of Topeka, KS Carolyn Gatenby, Sharon Winters, Richard King, Rita Camper all of Coffeyville, KS and Zachary Berkstresser of Ada, OH twelve greatgrandchildren and five great greatgrandchildren. She will be remembered for her love of church, spiritual music, flowers, chocolate and the color pink. A celebration of life will be held June 23, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Coffeyville with burial in the Fairview Cemetery.
