Mary Vowell

Mary Catherine Vowell, 94, of Coffeyville, Kansas died Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She was born June 5, 1915 in Coffeyville to Aloysious J. Brinkman and Rosa Miller Brinkman. Mary lived on a farm south of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma and attended Holy Name Catholic School in Coffeyville. She graduated from Lenapah High School. She married Clemmie L. Vowell on July 11, 1938 in Erie, Kansas. She worked outside of the home for Continental Can Company of Coffeyville, Lees Clothing Company of Cherryvale and retired from Automotive Control of Independence. Mary was a homemaker who loved quilting and gardening, especially flowers. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Clem, parents, brothers Frank Nicholas Brinkman, Paul Theodore Brinkman and son John Butch Vowell. She is survived by her daughter Mary E. Beth Holeman of Coffeyville, daughterinlaw Sue Vowell of Coffeyville and siblings Anna Louise Brinkman Drouillard of Tulsa, Rosa Marie Brinkman Roberson of Scottsdale, Arizona, Joseph Aloysious Brinkman of Lenapah, Oklahoma, John Brinkman of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Teresa Regina Brinkman Kemmerer of Ponca City, Oklahoma, 10 grandchildren, 23 greatgrandchildren, and one greatgreat grandson. Memorials may be made to Holy Name Catholic School and left with the funeral home. A mass of Catholic Burial will be said at Holy Name Catholic Church on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 10:00am followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville.
