Max A. Bohannon 1917 - 2006 Max A. Bohannon, age 88, lifetime Coffeyville, Kansas resident passed away on February 22, 2006 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, Coffeyville, Kansas. He was born September 27, 1917 to Owen E. Bohannon and Bertha Hollingsworth Bohannon in Elk Rapids, Michigan. He was a 1935 graduate of Field Kindley Memorial High School, Coffeyville, Kansas. He attended the Coffeyville Jr. College. On September 4, 1938, he married Nadine Hicks. She preceded him in death November 7, 1979. He later married Evelyn Heiken Bohannon. She preceded him in death 1987. He then married Bertha Thomas. She preceded him in death February 24, 2001. Mr. Bohannon was a US Navy Veteran as a SeaBee. He served during WWII in Pacific Theatre from 1945-1947. He was a member of the VFW Post 1022 of Coffeyville, Kansas. He retired from Farmland Industries in 1979 as a Operating Engineer after 44 years of employment. Mr. Bohannon also worked in Carpentry and was a Cabinet Maker. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the First Christian Church. He served as a Deacon, Elder and Sunday School Teacher. He served as a Boy Scout Leader for many years. He started with SEKAN where he received the Silver Beaver Award. Survivors include: 3 sons, Gary L. Bohannon, Jacksonville, Fl.; Ronald A. Bohannon, Atlanta, Ga.; Terry L. Bohannon, Coffeyville 2 daughters, Nancy J. Cranor, Atlanta, Ga.; Connie A. Stevens, Coffeyville 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Bruce Bohannon, 2 sisters, Katherine Baker amp; twin sister Barbara Waggoner. Calling hoursVisitation: Mr. Bohannons body will lie in state on Saturday, February 25, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, KS 67337. Family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday evening. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 26, 2006 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, KS 67337. Burial will follow in the Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Coffeyville, KS. Military rites will be performed by Fort Riley Big Red One, Fort Riley, Kansas.
