Max L. Felts Coffeyville resident, Max L. Felts entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 21, 2007 in Coffeyville. He was 83 years old. Max L. Felts was born October 10, 1923 in Liberty, Kansas to Frank L. and Bertha Elizabeth Hammond Felts. He attended Liberty elementary and high schools. On August 19, 1943 he married Nellie Marie Elliot in Santa Anna, California. Following their marriage Mr. Felts, who was serving in the United States Marine Corps, began overseas war duty in the Central and South Pacific. In October, 1945 he was discharged and returned to Coffeyville where he was employed at Sinclair Refinery until it closed in 1949. In 1950 he began work with Co-Op Refinery, retiring in 1985 as a supervisor in the Utility Department. Max was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church and V.F.W. Post No. 1022 of Coffeyville. He is survived by his wife, Nellie, of the home; son, Ronald Bruce Felts of Coffeyville, Kansas; daughter, Sondra K. Mayfield of Marion, Kansas; brothers, Royal Wayne Felts of Liberty, Kansas and Francis Leon Felts of Wichita, Kansas; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; half-brother, Lester; sisters, Cecil, Sylvia and Velma; brother, Richard Dean Felts. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home to sign the guest register. Family will greet friends on Wednesday evening from 7-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Coffeyville. Father Jerry Adinolfi will be officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Liberty, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the St. Pauls Episcopal Church.
