Maxine Hostetter

Maxine Wendell Hostetter, 85, Wichita, KS and formerly of Coffeyville, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Our Lady of Lords Center in Wichita. Maxine was born July 8, 1924 at Hutchinson, Kansas to Norvell M. Cooper and Lenora Evans Cooper. She grew up and attended school in Hutchinson. Maxine was a very athletic young lady and was captain of her high school field hockey team. She met Garland Hostetter, whom she decided was abig flirt, and later married him on June 17th. The Hostetters were married more than 55 years before Garland preceded her in death on February 1, 1998. When Garlands military service was over, the couple moved to Coffeyville, Kansas. Maxine resided there for more than 60 years before moving to Wichita in February of this year. Maxine was an active member of Coffeyvilles First United Methodist Church. She volunteered often, wherever she could, whether it was Brownie Leader; Active PTA member or Home Room Mom. Maxine was an excellent bowler and participated in the Coffeyville League for many years. She was also a member of the Coffeyville Art amp; Literature Club. Survivors include her two daughters, Jan Flint and her husband, Jack of Council Grove, Kansas and Gayla Crouse and her husband, Albert of Wichita; five grandchildren, Lori Petti and her husband, Mike of Cleveland, Ohio, Julie McIntosh and her husband, Adam of Shawnee, Kansas, Derek Larsen of Japan, Dr. Joseph Larsen and his wife, Diem of Arlington, Virginia and Allie Crouse of Fayetteville, Arkansas and two great-grandchildren, Marin Maxine Petti and Charley Larsen. Maxine was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Hostetter. Memorial services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Coffeyvilles First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jennifer Collins officiating. Private family inurnment will take place in Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel.
