Melville Heideman, 88, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away January 22, 2011 at CRMC. Melville was born on November 11, 1922 in Cherryvale, Kansas to Melville M. and Carrie L. Weiser Heideman. He grew up in the Coffeyville area where he received his high school education. He went on to earn some college credit from Coffeyville Community College. Melville served in WWII with the Army Air Core attached to the 509th Atomic Bomb Composite Group. On September 6, 1946 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Delores Olewinski in Coffeyville, Kansas where the couple made their home. He was a Past Master of the Keystone Lodge 102 for sixty years. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 1022, the American Legion Post 20 and Past Patron of the Eastern Star. He was also part of several Masonic bodies. Melville worked as a chemist for the Sherwin Williams Plant for thirty two years. He is survived by his loving wife, DeloresDel of the home daughters, Gloria Davis and husband, Gary of Coffeyville, Linda Malotte and husband, Wilmer of Caney, Kansas sisters, Ruby Phelps of Coffeyville, DoloresDee Sullivan and husband, Jack of Wentzville, Missouri six grandchildren seventeen greatgrandchildren and four greatgreatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melville and Carrie. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm to sign the guest register at the funeral home. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Keystone Lodge 102 or the Masonic Home. These may be left with the funeral home.
