Melvin Gale Rauscher, born Ocotber 16, 1925 in Monessen, PA., passed away September 10, 2006 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife Joan Marie Ziegler Rauscher of 57 years, two daughters, Gayle Marie Rauscher Pierson, and husband Jay of Coffeyville, kansas and Lynn Kathleen Rauscher Oliver, and husband Ken of Broken Arrow, OK.; two sons Douglas Alan Rauscher and wife Ann of Adana, Turkey, and Robert Preston Rauscher and wife Carol of Lees Summit, Mo.; 8 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Fraley of Cincinnati, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Rauscher. Mel attended elementary and secondary school in mansfield, PA where he lettered in varsity basketball, and the University of Miami in Fl. where he met his wife, Joan Marie Zeigler. They married September 1, 1949 and moved to Manfield, PA where he operated a grocery store. Later they built and operated a bowling center in Coffeyville until 1981 when he retired. He was a member of the United States Army Air Corp from October 1943 through February 1946, and received an honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant. Other memberships and affiliations are as follows: American Legion; VFW; Blue Lodge, Chapter, Potter County Commanderie, Consistery, Mirza Temple; St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Coffeyville, Kansas. He was also past president and long time member of Coffeyville Country Club. He enjoyed golf, fishing, traveling, playing cards, his family and joking with his friends. He will be missed by all who knew him well. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 14, 2006 at the St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Coffeyville. Memorials may be made to the church.
