Merle Robert Witwer age 85 of Tulsa, OK passed away with his family at his side on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Wildwood Care Center.
Merle was born on June 22, 1933 in Wann, OK to Samuel Harrison and Maude Marie (Eden) Witwer. He attended school in Wann. After school Merle found employment with the Munitions Plant in Parsons, KS, Pepsi Cola, Page Milk in Coffeyville KS, and Sears in Coffeyville where he worked in sales for a number of years and then transferred to Sears in Tulsa, OK where he retired from Sears in 1995. While at sears he met Barbara Anita Davis and the couple was united in marriage on March 3, 1991 in Mound Valley, KS. The couple has made their home in Tulsa since 1991.
Merle was a talented craftsman and had a deep passion for woodworking, he also enjoyed restoring antique cars and tractors. Spending time on the farm was another favorite of Merle's, there was plenty of work between the farm and working cattle. Merle's greatest moments was the time he had with his family, he adored his children and that love only grew with the addition of grandchildren, great-grandchildren. Family was everything to Merle.
Merle's memories will live on with his wife, Barbara of the home, daughters, Mary Ann Greenfield her husband Rick of South Coffeyville, OK, Debra Merlene Cramer her husband Jerry of Mound Valley, KS, and Regina Lynn Collins of Bartlesville, OK, 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren.
He now rests with his parents, brother John Al Witwer, sister Vera Marie Witwer and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville, KS. Interment will immediately follow at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. Friends are invited to sign the register and greet the family on Monday, August 6, 2018 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel 2405 Woodland Ave. Coffeyville, KS 67337. The family suggests memorials be made payable to the First Southern Baptist Church and they may be sent in care of the Chapel.
