Longtime Coffeyville resident Mildred Irene Wright, 90, went home to Heaven Tuesday morning, September 15 at her home in Coffeyville. Mrs. Wright was born November 24, 1918, to David and Ethel Lovelace Wilson. On December 25, 1937 she married Lawrence Charles Wright in her parents home west of Coffeyville. Mr. Wright died April 2, 2005. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Coffeyville. Her hobbies included embroidery, traveling and garage sales. She was a caregiver and homemaker as well as a very special mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with a wonderful sense of humor. Earlier this year she was honored by TOPS 110 Take Off Pounds Sensibly as their queen and received special honors at the groups state convention in Topeka. On the occasion of her 90th birthday, Rep. Virgil Peck presented her with a certificate of recognition on behalf of the House of Representatives. Preceding her in death in addition to her husband, were her parents; sisters Irma Lee, Leona Wilson and Lola Castoe; and brothers Edward, Oliver, Dave, Otis and Lloyd Wilson. She is survived by two sons, Larry Nancy Wright of Coffeyville, and Harol Rowanna Wright of Royce City, Texas; two daughters, Carol J. Grace and Cheryl Wright of Coffeyville; and adopted daughter, Rila Jean Archer of Ash Grove, Missouri; four grandchildren Jim Trudy Wright of Coffeyville; Cindy Benjy Fenske of Billings, Missouri, Sharla TonyDenOuden of Kokomo, Indiana, and Kenton Lisa Wright of Caddo Mills, Texas; 11 great-grandchildren, Skylar, Taylor and Hunter Wright, Case, Brooklyn and Jake DenOuden, Korby and Avery Fenske and Eran, Emily and Elizabeth Wright; a sister, Viola Avery, and three brothers, Gene Wayne Wilson of Coffeyville, Raymond Wilson of Purdy, Missouri and Vernon Wilson of Grove, Oklahoma. Also surviving are two step-granddaughters, Cami Elliott of Keller, Texas and Cari Jason Redden of Coffeyville, and four step-great-grandchildren Kylie and Morgan Elliott and Matthew and Kennedi Redden. Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the First Southern Baptist Church, 8th and Overlook. Presiding will be Mrs. Wrights son, the Reverend Harol Wright, the Reverend Richard Jenkins of Springfield, Missouri and Reverend C.L. Armstrong of Pittsburg, Kansas. Burial will follow in the family lot at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. Memorials have been established in Mrs. Wrights name with John 3:17 at First Southern Baptist Church and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Gifts may be left at the funeral home.
