Myron E. Kelso, age 87, of Coffeyville passed away on January 29, 2016 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin Missouri.
Myron was born on May 19, 1928 in Havana, KS to Leslie and Hazel (Johnson) Kelso. Myron attended and graduated from Havana Schools. He continued his education at Kansas University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy. After graduating in 1954, Myron moved to Wichita to start working for Dockum's Drug. While attending KU he met Jo Anne Skinner and the couple were united in marriage on June 11, 1955. They were blessed with three children. In 1963 the family moved to Coffeyville where Myron started his partnership with Columbia Drug. Later Myron sold his share and started working for Coffeyville Reginal Medical Center where he retired as Director of Pharmacy in 1994. Myron was an avid reader, he also loved watching KU sporting events, and he enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling with his family. One of Myron's true passions was his community always doing what he could to give a helping hand. He was a member of Lions International, life member of Kansas Pharmaceutical Association, University of Kansas Alumni Association, American Health System Pharmacists, Kansas Representative to United States Pharmacopeia Committee, past Vice President and Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce, Chair Chamber Beautification Committee, Cub Scout Pack Committee Chair-Edgewood School, Boy Scout Troop 47 Committee Chairman, Public Speaker on Drug Education, a Pharmacology Instructor at CRMC, and a member of the First United Methodist Church where he was also a member of the Choir.
Left to honor his memory are his sons, Kevin Kelso, Marc Kelso, daughter, Jane Greer, longtime companion, Helen Brown and family and 4 grandchildren, Jason Harris, Sarah Trible, Matthew Greer, Lezlie Kelso, and Jerron Kelso, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Jo Anne.
The Funeral Services will be held on Thursday February 4, 2016 at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Nicole Schwartz of First United Methodist Church officiating, friends are invited to greet the family from 9:00 a.m. to service time. The register will be available to sign on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Old Mission Cemetery in Wichita, KS. The family has suggested memorials be made to the Salvation Army or the CRMC Hospital Auxiliary and they may be sent to the Chapel.
