Myrtle Siever Jones, 79, Coffeyville, Kansas died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Windsor Place Care Center. Myrtle was born September 8, 1931 at Mulvane, Kansas to Luther R. Siever and Nellie Martin Siever. She grew up in the Mulvane area and graduated from Belle Plain, Kansas High School. After high school, Myrtle worked for Fox Vitale Wholesale Drug in Wichita, Kansas. She met Tom R. Jones and the couple was united in marriage July 26, 1952 at Pleasanton, Kansas. Tom was called to the military and spent 22 years in the service of his country. He retired and the Joneses moved to Coffeyville in 1974 and began farming. In 1976, the couple moved to Wichita, then returned to Coffeyville in 1985 where the couple opened Elite Appliance and operated it until 1995, when Toms health forced his retirement. Myrtle was a member of the Coffeyville First Church of God VFW Post 1022 Ladies Auxiliary and Retired Enlisted Association Auxiliary, Washington, D.C. She handtooled leather and made and sold many western pictures that she created. Myrtle also liked to sew and work crossword puzzles. Survivors are her husband, Tom of the home three sons, Thomas E. Jones of Wichita, Theodore R. Jones and his wife, Sarah and Troy D. Jones and his wife, Michelle, all of Coffeyville two daughters, Amelia M. Botfeld and her husband, Stephen of Cabot, Vermont and Cindy J. Hefling and her husband, Kenneth of Wichita 13 grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents by a brother, Robert Seiver and by three grandchildren. A graveside memorial service will be held 10a.m., Friday, March 11, 2011 at Spring Hill Cemetery north of Coffeyville with Brother John Lockeby officiating. Service, cremation and inurnment are under the direction of PenwellGabel Funeral Home amp Crematory. Friends may come by the funeral home Thursday to sign the guest register and family will be on hand from 68 p.m. to share memories and a video. Memorials can be made to the American Stroke Foundation in care of the funeral home.
