Nolan Dean Carnes 1924 - 2005 Nolan Dean Carnes, age 80, Coffeyville, Kansas resident passed away early Wednesday morning, May 11, 2005 in the ER unit of Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born June 29, 1924 in rural Coffeyville, Kansas to Ewell and Mary Whinery Carnes. He attended a one room school Ringo School West of Coffeyville. He attended one year at Roosevelt Jr. High. He was a 1942 graduate of Copan High School, Copan, Oklahoma. He attended Coffeyville Community College in the Fall of 1942. He entered the US Army in 1943 where he served during WWII in the European Theater until his honorable discharge in 1946. On September 17, 1955 he married Florene Stilwell in Coffeyville, Kansas at the First United Methodist Church. Mr. Carnes was employed with the US Postal Service for 42 years. He retired December 1984. Memberships include: First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 20, CRMC Aux. amp; Rural Letter Carrier Assoc., Honey Bee Good Sam Camping Group. Hobbies include: farming and ranching, reading, fishing, camping, motorcycles and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Florene of the home in rural Coffeyville, one son Kevin Carnes and wife Jan, Manhattan, Ks.; one daughter, Karen Hayes and husband Kent, Columbia, Mo.; Five grandchildren, Rachel, Owen and Austin Carnes; Ashley and Kylie Hayes; one brother, Alan Carnes and wife Donna, Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Jacqueta Harding and husband Raymond, Midwest City, Ok.; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church of Coffeyville. Dr. Dan Ferguson will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. Family and Friends may call at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave, Coffeyville from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2005. Military Honors By: Ft.
