Nora Joplin

Nora Joplin, 97, formerly of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away July 23, 2008 in the Villa Maria Nursing Home in Mulvane Kansas where she has been a resident for two years. She was born on October 12, 1910 to Edward and Myrtle Thomas Wagner. She attended school in Dearing, Kansas and was a long time resident of Coffeyville, Kansas until she moved to her daughters home in Mulvane, Kansas in 2004. She was a lifetime member of the Eagles Auxiliary holding different offices. Nora so loved her family and loved to play Bingo. Her deceased husbands were James Joplin and Charley Roles. She is survived by two daughters, Jean Roles Smith of Louisville, Kentucky and Vivian Vicki Roles Hardesty of Mulvane, Kansas; one sister, Lucille Keeley of Wichita, Kansas; sister-in-law, Nina Wagner of Coffeyville, Kansas, granddaughters, Tara Batson, Rhetta Sherman Smith and Tamara Smith of Louisville, Kentucky; 8 great-grandchildren, Vicky Jo Cowin, James Hayden Hardesty of Mulvane; Amber, Miles and Kelsey Batson of Louisville, Kentucky and Adam, Joshua and Zachary Sherman of Carmel, Indiana; 4 great-great grandchildren, Jordan Hardesty of Utah and Lindsay, Shayla and Mariah Cowin of Mulvane. Nora was loved by many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Preceding her in death are two sisters, Viola Ward and Dorothy Ryan; one brother, Frank Wagner; one granddaughter, Starla McBee. Special acknowledgment to her great-granddaughter, Vicky Jo Cowin of Mulvane, Kansas for her special, loving care to her great-grandmother when she moved to Mulvane. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2008 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home, 2405 Woodland, Coffeyville, Kansas. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabels Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may sign the guest register from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
