Obe Alston, Jr.

Obe Eugene Alston, Jr., 84, Dewey, Oklahoma, formerly of Coffeyville, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Forrest Manor Nursing Home in Dewey. Obe was born November 7, 1925 at Nuyaka, Oklahoma to Obe Eugene Alston, Sr. and Loni M. Macabee Alston. He grew up near Nuyaka and attended the rural schools of the area. Obe worked in the oilfields as a young man and later worked as a metal pourer at Acme Foundry in Coffeyville and the Aluminum Foundry in Caney, Kansas. Obe also worked on the maintenance crews for the City of Caney. He married Reva Duncan at Okmulgee, Oklahoma in 1943. Mrs. Alston preceded her husband in death in 2004. Obe enjoyed gardening. Survivors include a son, Dennis Alston three daughters, Darlene Russell, Dianna Houser and Dorcas Mark 14 grandchildren 28 greatgrandchildren and five greatgreatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents by his wife and by a greatgrandson, Tyler Stevens. Mr. Alston has been cremated and his family will announce memorial services at a later date.
