Ogle Edward Harden, 98, Coffeyville, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2005, at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Ogle was born September 25, 1907 in Edna, Kansas to Herbert Phillip and Estella Mae Hine Harden. He was graduated from Edna High School and attended Byers Business School in Coffeyville. He lived in Edna until 1924, moving to Coffeyville where he began employment at J.C. Penney, a job that lasted ten years. From there he briefly worked for Bowman Realty, and then Kistler Oil Company. In 1937, he established his own real estate office in the Columbia Building, moving later to the Dale Hotel. In 1935, he married Mary Jane Button in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He continued to operate his real estate business until 1950, when he moved to Springfield, Missouri and formed a partnership with Frank Wann, of Wann Realty. He returned to Coffeyville in 1952 to reestablish his business. Approximately 1977 he closed his office and became associated with Winston Realty. In 1982, George Realtors added Ogle to the staff and in the late 80s he joined Midwest Real Estate. On July 16, 1997, the Coffeyville Board of Realtors honored Mr. Harden for his 60th anniversary in the real estate business. He received the first Realtor of the Year award, presented by the Coffeyville organization in 1982. Mrs. Harden died October 15, 1989. Mr. Harden was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville; an active member of the Coffeyville Board of Realtors and past president; Kansas Association of Realtors, serving as zone vice president twice and National Association of Realtors, serving on the membership committee in 1956. Mr. Harden was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother. Other survivors include one nephew, Melvin Harden of Welch, Oklahoma. He is also survived by three nieces Othelia Wester of Parsons, Anita Shufelt of Edna and Jean Harden of South Coffeyville. A funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, November 14, at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at the North Edna Cemtery in Edna, Kansas. Mr. Harden will lie in state from 1-8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville or to the Shriners Crippled Childrens Fund co the funeral home.
