Opal Irene Scrogin Coffeyville resident, Opal Irene Scrogin entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at her home in Coffeyville. She was 93. Opal was born July 28, 1913 in Pineville, Missouri to Roy L. and Oma Alice Worthington Wood. She spent some of her childhood in Oklahoma but most of her childhood was in Southeast Kansas. She attended schools in Cherryvale. In 1948 she married Raymond Scrogin in Newkirk, Oklahoma. Opal spent her time taking care of her husband and children. She attended her sons football games and her daughter39;s band concerts. She loved taking her daughter ice skating. Opal enjoyed crocheting and was quite a pro at it. She crocheted several pieces for her family including the Last Supper and the Lords Prayer. She loved working in her flower garden and loved raising roses. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville. Survivors include her husband Raymond Scrogin of the home; daughter, Mary A. Scrogin of Coffeyville; son, Geary Lee Hulseman of Kimberling City, Mo; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister and one grandson. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington, Kansas. Pastor Richard Jenkins will officate under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home of Coffeyville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, June 4, 2007 from 9 am until 9 pm to sign the guest register. The family will greet friends from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday evening.
