Patricia Castorena

Patricia Joan Haviland Castorena age 79 of Independence passed away on March 20, 2018 at St Johns Medical Center in Tulsa.

Patricia was born in Coffeyville on November 3, 1938, the second to youngest of six children to Virgil and Mary (Hobbs) Knisley. Patricia attended local schools and graduated from Field Kindley High School with the class of 1957. After graduation Patricia went to work for Emerson and ACC. She met Bill Haviland while buying a Volkswagen Bug and they couple was united in marriage on April 9, 1971 in Miami, OK. they were blessed with a daughter, René. The couple made their home near Jefferson where they owned and operated Knisley Trucking for over 10 years. They then both went to work for Patricia's brother at Sunset Disposal until Bill's passing in 1990. Patricia was then married to Al Castorena on July 8, 2000.

Patricia loved being a mother, caring for the needs of the home gave her joy and pride. Once she became a grandmother her life was complete, she absolutely loved and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Patricia enjoyed spending time in her vegetable and flower gardens, watching her television programs, and day trips to the casino with her cousin Linda. She was a night owl and once she retired she would tell her family and friends that she would sleep when she wanted. She always loved family cookouts and gatherings, spending time with her family was her best times. Knowing Patricia, one knew that she was truly one of a kind, unique in the truest form.

Patricia's memories will live on with her daughter René Long her husband Steve, grandchildren, Geneva Michelle Long her fiancé Jon Edwards and Amber Gosnell her husband Wes, great-grandchildren Jaxson and Miranda Gosnell.

She is now at rest with her husband Bill Haviland and Al Castorena, brothers, Lloyd, Arnold, Kenneth, and Carol Knisley, and sister Mary Jane Knisley

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 1:00pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Fairview Cemetery. Friends are invited to sign the register and greet the family on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Chapel.
