Pauline Waneta Pitts, age 89, of Coffeyville, Kansas died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the FordWulfBruns Chapel with the Reverend James Riekeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the FordWulfBruns Chapel.
Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the FordWulfBruns Chapel.
The family has suggested memorials to the Central Baptist Church and contributions may be left at the FordWulfBruns Chapel.
Pauline Waneta Merryfield Pitts was born October 27, 1922 to George and Clara Smith Merryfield in Coffeyville, Kansas.
In June of 1941 Pauline married Harold D. Pitts and traveled with him stateside while he was on active duty. Pauline and Harold helped start the Sharon Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas. She graduated from Coffeyville Community College and taught in several area rural schools during the 1950s and 1960s. She was an active member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children Jeanette and Bob Mills of Kentucky, David Pitts of Independence, Charles and Kathy Pitts of Coffeyville, Pam and Mike McClenning of Coffeyville, seventeen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Paula Harmon, one grandchild and one great grandchild.
