PerryEddie Edgar Freeman, 86, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Lake Point Nursing Home in El Dorado, Kansas. Perry was born June 10, 1922 at Wayside, Kansas to Perry E. Freeman and Nellie Alma Cherry Freeman. Perry lived in Coffeyville most of his life, where he was a very likable person. He was a graduate of Field Kindley High School attended Coffeyville Junior College. He married Betty Lorene Mays on May 23, 1942. Perry worked for Junge Bakery for about 25 years. He and his wife owned a gas station, a store, a laundry mat and a repair shop known as Eddies One Stop. In 1992, Perry and Betty moved to Wichita with their youngest son, Ricky and in 1997 moved to El Dorado, Kansas. Perry enjoyed fishing, boating, bowling and spending time with the grandkids. He was a member of both the VFW and American Legion due to his service during World War II as a Petty Officer First Class with the Navy CBs. Survivors include three children, Diana K. Freeman and her husband, Doug and Jerry D. Freeman and his wife, Lois, all of Coffeyville and Ricky G. Freeman and his wife, Karla of El Dorado; one sister, Maxine Butler of Coffeyville; grandchildren, Jon and Melissa Murray, Lisa and Rob Scott, Steve and Robyn Freeman, Melissa Freeman, Joshua Freeman, David Freeman, Deborah Freeman, Casey Callarman; great-grandchildren, Zack and Heather Scott, Ariel Scott and boyfriend Alexis, Aric Scott, Kane Murray, Noah Murray, Lynsea Freeman, Alec Freeman, Tyllier Freeman; great-great-grandchildren, Ryan Kimmey, Adrian Kimmey, David Kimmey and one on the way. Others he called grandchildren; Christina Robert, Rebecca David, Peter Nelson, Angela Morse, Bro. amp; Sis. Scott, Joe, Jared, and Jonathan Scott, all the Lake Point staff, a special thanks to Tom Bowes, Tish Jones, Mary Oller, Rebbeca Sharbutt, Delorse Gillean, Denise Willits, Ron and Rena Collins, Robert Laudermilk, Tom and Susan Riley, Kira and Hope Brewer, Mike and Janet Morse, Kandi Anderson and family, Heather Simon and children and Dr. Seeber and staff. These people made a special mark in his life and helped in his last days. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife Betty; a son, Perry Freeman, Jr. who passed at birth, a grandson David Freeman and a sister Pauline St.Ledger. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Rick Freeman will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, April 10, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. to sign the guest register.
