Phyllis J. Davenport, nee Hobbs, 84, a long time Coffeyville, Kansas resident, passed away Monday, August 10, 2009 at Lakeview Village in Lenexa, Kansas. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home in Coffeyville. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2009 at the funeral home to sign the guest register. Inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Phyllis was born December 2, 1924 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Emery and Ruby Shores Hobbs. She graduated from Coffeyville High School and attended Coffeyville Community Junior College. On May 8, 1942, she married Joe Davenport. The couple spent most of their 60 years together in Coffeyville. Phyllis was a seamstress for the H. D. Lee Company and later she helped operate Goldies Donuts formerly Goldies Pie Shop. She retired in 1992. Phyllis was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Davenport is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, William and Charles. She is survived by two sons, Dan Davenport, of Saginaw, Texas; Stan Davenport, of Coffeyville, Kansas; two daughters, Nancy Beal, of Overland Park, Kansas; and Marcy Mazzarella, of Blue Springs, Missouri; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association or Lakeview Village in Mrs. Davenports memory.
