Raymond Scrogin

Raymond F Scrogin age 91 of Coffeyville passed away on August 23, 2017 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.

Raymond was born in Blackwell, OK on May 5, 1926 to Frank and Beulah (Mounce) Scrogin. He attended school in Newkirk, OK. After school he started driving a truck for his dad, he then started driving cattle trucks, and then started working as a pumper in the oil fields until he was drafted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged and returned home. In December of 1948 Raymond was untied in marriage to Opal Wood. The couple made their home in Arkansas City, KS, Wellington, KS, Andrews, TX and retired to Coffeyville, KS. Raymond was baptized while in Andrews, TX at the Baptist Church, and became a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville. Raymond loved football especially the Dallas Cowboys; he also enjoyed watching baseball, bird and deer hunting with his grandsons. Raymond never knew a stranger and considered most people his friend. He held himself to a very high standard of morals and was truly always honest. He held strong values and lived his life according to them.

Those left to cherish his memory are, step-daughter Mary Scrogin, grandsons, Larry Bowman his wife Lorraine, John Bowman his wife Dianna, great-grandchildren, Matthew Bowman his wife Teresa, Mark Bowman his wife Katie, Melissa Glover her husband Jacob and a great-great grandson Elijah. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Opal, son Geary Lee Hulseman, his brother, John Scrogin, and his sister, Leta Gray.

Graveside services under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington, KS at 11:00 a.m. Friends may sign the register on Friday August 25, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Chapel. The family suggests memorials be made payable to the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center Foundation or to a charity of choice and they may be sent in care of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel 2405 Woodland Ave. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
