Raymond F. Startz 1926 2007 Raymond F. Startz, age 80, formerly of Coffeyville, entered into rest on Thursday evening of March 1, 2007 at the Shawnee Mission Kansas Medical Center, Mission, Kansas. Mr. Startz was born October 3, 1926 to John William and Martha Anastatia Strutzel Startz in rural Liberty, Kansas. Raymond attended Coffeyville schools and graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1944. He also attended CCJC, Kansas University and George Washington University. He enlisted in the United States Army on December 12, 1944, served in WWII and was discharged February 1, 1947 as a Technician Fourth Grade with the 71st Signal Service Battalion. On May 18, 1959, Raymond enlisted in the United States Air Force and was discharged September 17, 1965 as an Airman First Class. Mr. Startz was an engineer and worked for the United States Government at the Navy Department in Washington, D.C., at the Army Corp of Engineers in both Kansas City, Missouri and Libya, North Africa; and at General Services Administration in Kansas City, Missouri. He retired in 1981. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the St. Pius X Catholic Church in Mission, Kansas. He was an avid Kansas University fan. Raymond is survived by brothers, James J. Startz of Kansas City, Kansas, A. John Startz of Groves, Texas and Elmer W. Startz of Midland, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parent; brother, Clarence G. Startz; and sister, Connie M. Dolenz. Visitation hours will be from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, March 5, 2007 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville, Kansas. Rosary service will be held 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 5, 2007 at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, Kansas with Fr. Jerome Spexarth officiating.
