Reverend Sharon Brown Chappell Memorial Services for Reverend Sharon Brown Chappell, 65, formerly of Oskaloosa, will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville. Reverend Chappell died Thursday, October 19, 2006 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka after a long illness. She was born December 18, 1940 in Columbus, the daughter of Milton and Doris Brown. She grew up in Coffeyville.After graduating high school she attended the University of Kansas and earned a bachelors degree in education. Then she earned a masters degree from Pittsburg State University and taught in the Coffeyville area for many years. She married James Lee Chappell in 1960. They had three sons. The couple later
orced. She attended the Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City and became a First United Methodist Church minister. She served in several churches in Kansas. Her last appointment was the First United Methodist Church of Oskaloosa. She is survived by her two sons, Jim Chappell of Broomfield, CO and Dan Chappell of Lawrence, KS; a sister Elizabeth Fink of Colorado Springs, CO; a brother Fred Brown of Coffeyville and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son David and her parents. The family will greet friends at the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville following the services. Inurnment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
