Rex Walter Jerrim of Coffeyville, Kansas left his earthly home for his heavenly home on April 9, 2012. During his illness, Rex was grateful to his family and friends for their support, encouragement, and so many prayers. Born on November 14, 1932, Rex was the only child of Frank and Addie Six Jerrim. Rex was convinced his parents had no other children because theygot perfection the first time. The first 40 years of his life were spent in Lansing, Michigan, and it was there he graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in electrical engineering. While in college and after college, he worked for Lansing Board of Water and Light and retired after 20 years of service. Rexs extensive knowledge and experience in Municipal Electric Utilities provided many wonderful job opportunities from Jacksonville, Florida, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Hagerstown, Maryland, Gillette, Wyoming, Homestead, Florida, Gallup, New Mexico, and finally retiring from the City of Coffeyville in 2006. Rex and his wife, Lynda, also spent several years in Saudi Arabia where he worked for an American company as the Operations and Maintenance manager for the new King Abdul Aziz Military Academy. Many trips all over the world were made possible by overseas employment. Rex was well known for his management skills and many of his former employees would vouch that he wasthe best boss ever. Rex loved the Lord and was a member of Tyro Christian Church. He loved his many friends at First Baptist Church and Amazing Grace Church where he went for Bible study. Rex enjoyed the water, swam like a fish, liked boating and fishing, His favorite past time was playing cards and Mexican Train with his family and friends, Rex never met an animal he didnt like and he especially loved his dogs at home. Rex is survived by Lynda, his wife of 31 years, and children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren scattered across the country: son, John Jerrim and wife Beverly of Gainsville, Georgia daughter, Sharon Swanson of Lake City, Florida son, Gary Jerrim and wife Pat of Jacksonville Beach, Florida daughter, Sandy Thornton and husband Wayne of Garner, North Carolina daughter, Lisette McNamara and husband Bob of Salem, Oregon daughter, Maria Thomas of the home and son, TJ Thomas and wife Kerri of Dillon, Montana. Rexs desire to be cremated has been arranged by PenwellGabel Funeral Home, Coffeyville. If desired, memorials may be sent to Coffeyville Friends of Animals the local animal shelter or Safari Zoological Park in Caney. These can be sent to the funeral home. A celebration of Rexs life and his return Home will take place at a later date.
