Richard Lee Geeding, 84, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Richard was born on July 26, 1927 in Goodman, Missouri to Curtis and Lorraine Williams Geeding. He grew up in the Splitlog, Missouri area where his grandparents lived. He attended the Love School in Splitlog. In 1945 he joined the United States Army where he served his country as a Private First Class until 1947 when he was honorably discharged. On October 30, 1948 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Dorothy Richardson in Joplin, Missouri. The couple made their home in Goodman, Missouri and Neosho, Missouri until settling in Coffeyville in 1952. He worked for the City of Coffeyville as a Lineman for 35 years until his retirement. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing cards, Wahoo and marbles. He enjoyed going to flea markets, and collected electrical pole insulators for many years. Most of all he loved the time he spent with his family and friends especially watching the grandchildren grow up. Surviving to honor his memory are his daughter, Shirley Frederick of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma special friend, Joyce McKellips grandchildren, Mike Reeves, John Reeves, Misti Easter, Dottie Frederick all of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Tracy Davidson of Lenapah, Oklahoma seventeen greatgrandchildren one greatgreat grandchild and a brother, Harvey Geeding of South Haven, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Lorraine wife, Dorothy son, Curtis Lee Geeding brothers, Oren Geeding, Junior Chandler and a sister, Pauline Mann. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at PenwellGabel FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. Pastor Randy DePriest will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery Veterans Patio in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Wednesday, June 20. 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home to sign the guest register. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
