Rita M. Scott, a devoted homemaker and loving family member, passed away on September 18, 2023, at the age of 92. She was born on June 7, 1931, in Coffeyville, Kansas to Walter King and Gertrude (Sneed) King.
Rita was a woman of immense gratitude, never wanting to burden others with her needs. Her humble and kind nature touched the lives of everyone she met. She found contentment in what she had and never desired unnecessary material possessions.
Rita attended school in Coffeyville and completed her education there as well. She deeply cherished her family and took pride in being a devoted wife to Donald Scott, who survives her. Together they built a joyful 74 years of life centered around their children and grandchildren.
While maintaining a warm household for her loved ones, Rita found solace in various hobbies and interests throughout her life. She enjoyed diving into the pages of books, challenging her mind with crossword puzzles, and above all else, treasured spending time with her family.
One of Rita's proudest accomplishments was raising her children with love and care. She provided them with a nurturing environment and instilled values that will carry on for generations to come. Rita's unconditional love created an unbreakable bond within the family.
Rita M. Scott is survived by her husband Donald Scott of the home; children Linda and husband Monte Compston; Nancy and husband Stan Cole; Michael and J. Lee Scott; ten grandchildren; as well as her brother Kenneth King. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Funeral Service will be held to honor Rita's life on September 21, 2023, at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel located at 2405 Woodland Ave in Coffeyville, KS. The service will begin at 2pm. Rita will be laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery in the Scott Family Plots. The family request memorial contributions be made payable to either Parkinson Association, Alzheimer's Association or American Cancer Society.
