Rural Coffeyville resident, Robert T. DeMott, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at his home. He was 77. Bob was born October 17, 1930 in rural Altamont, Kansas to Robert T. and Goldie Johnson DeMott, Sr. He graduated from Labette County High School in 1949 and later attended Coffeyville Community Junior College. He married Shirley Good on March 17, 1951. She preceded him in death. Bob served in the United States Marines Corps from 1952 until 1954. On November 5, 1965 he married Letrechia Woollard in Coffeyville. Bob had worked for Parkersburg Rig and Reel, Boeing Aircraft of Tulsa and retired from John Deere in 1993. He was an avid bowler and golfer. Memberships include USBC, American Legion, National Rifle Association and The Modern Woodmen of America. Bob is survived by his wife, Letrechia Pat DeMott of the home; son, Robert H. DeMott; daughters, Cheryl Emery, Karen Handshumaker and Brenda Palmer; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Dean DeMott of Cherryvale and Wayne DeMott of Wichita; sisters, Dortha Welch of Independence, Donna Garding of Coffeyville and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Shirley. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home Chapel of Coffeyville, Kansas. Pastor Gary Stevens will officiate and burial will follow in the North Edna Cemetery at Edna, Kansas. Friends may call on Friday, February 1, 2008 from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. to sign the guest register. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Labette County High School Baseball Building Fund. These may be left in care of the funeral home.
