Robert Dean Yates age 80, of Coffeyville passed away on Sunday July 31, 2016 at St Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK.
Bob was born on May 4, 1936 in Chanute to Carl and Evelyn (Jacobson) Yates. The family moved to Coffeyville in 1949, Bob attended and graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1955. He continued his education at Coffeyville Community College, South Methodist University, and University of Houston.Bob was united in marriage to Kay Smith in 1959, they had three sons, Bob, Jim, and they lost Stephen at birth. The couple later divorced. In 1970 he was united in marriage to Linda Madden and they were blessed with two children, Zeke and Susan. Bob was a member of the Jaycees, Lions Club, he served on the City Industrial Levy Board for 8 years, City Youth Activities Center Board of Directors, he was a chairman on the Board of Directors of American Red Cross, Board of Directors for Chamber of Commerce and a member for 10 years, he also chaired the Board of Directors for the Salvation Army, he was head of the Heart Fund Drive in the 60's, and was the head of the Quivira Boy Scout Council. He coached many youth sports including the Coffeyville ANU Swim Team and the Coffeyville Country Club Swim Team. Bob loved to play golf, fish, and go quail hunting.
Left to honor his memory is his wife Linda, three sons Bob, Jim, and Zeke, daughter Susan, 5 grandchildren Robert, Tori, Michael, Scotty, Jessi, and 4 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Stephen.
Graveside services under the direction of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel will be held on Wednesday August 3, 2016 at 9:00 am at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Dean McNamara of First Baptist Church officiating. Friends are invited to sign the register on Tuesday August 2, 2016 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Chapel.
