Ronald Dean Cerny age 77 of Coffeyville passed away on January 13, 2021 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.
Ronald was born in Coffeyville on January 6, 1944 to Clifford and Frenia (Fitzpatrick) Cerny. He was raised in Coffeyville and attended local schools graduating from Field Kindley High School. After high school he joined the United States Navy where he worked on aircraft until he was honorable discharged. Ronald returned home to Coffeyville where he found employment with the flour mill, Sherwin Williams, and Farmland where he retired after many years. While at Sherwin Williams he met Sandy Buetow and the couple was united in marriage. To this union the couple was blessed with two daughters before they later divorced. Ronald loved his children and he loved taking them hunting, fishing, over to a friend’s house, or just hanging at the house renting a good movie. Ronald enjoyed his Harley, making the annual ride to Sturgis was one of his favorite traditions; he also enjoyed hunting deer, squirrel, rabbit and gigging frogs. He always liked fishing and spending time at Grand Lake he was also a member of the American Legion and was known as one of the daily regulars. Ronald was quiet; one of the most easy going guys around, but was also one of the most lovable humans when he let you in.
Ronald’s memories will live on with his daughters, Bronwen Hamer her husband Michael and Amanda Shelton her husband Greg, sister’s; Joan Mills her husband Larry, Kathy Williams her husband Rex, and Jackie Waddell her husband Danny, and grandchildren Chloe Shelton, Madison Hamer, Graham Shelton, Hayes Hamer.
He now rests with his parents Clifford and Frenia.
Memorial services has been RESCHEDULED for Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 12:00 pm at the Coffeyville American Legion Post 1022. The family suggests memorials be made payable to Coffeyville American Legion Post 1022 and they may be sent in care of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel 2405 Woodland Ave. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
