Ronald Dean Wulf, born July 3, 1941 in Holton, Kansas, to Victor Henry Wulf and Hildegarde Barbara Bunck Wulf. In 1944, he moved to Mt. Hope, Kansas with his family where he attended school. He graduated from Mt. Hope High School in 1960. He attended Hutchinson Junior College where he played football. He attended The University of Kansas and graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in Dallas, Texas in 1965. He served his apprenticeship at Byrd-Snodgrass Funeral Home in Wichita. In 1968, he moved his family to Coffeyville and was associated with Ford Funeral Home. In 1975 when Ford Funeral Home merged with the Murdock Funeral Home, he became a stockholder. In 1980, he and Roger Bruns became sole owners and the name was changed to Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Home. Wulf retired January 1, 2002. He was a third generation funeral director following his father, uncle, and grandparents in the profession. The Wulf-Ast Mortuary still operates in Mt. Hope, Garden Plain, and Colwich, Kansas. Wulf married Marilyn K. Crozier on March 8, 1963, at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Andale, Kansas. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and on the Parish Council and the Building and Finance Committee. He joined the Knights of Columbus 46 years ago and was a 3rd Degree member of Council 991 in Coffeyville and the Joyce Kilmer Assembly 0281, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and the Honor Guard. He was also a member of the Mallard Club and Bears and Bulls Investment Club. He was a past member of the Coffeyville Jaycees and received the Distinguished Service Award in 1971. He was a former 30 year member and past president of Lions Club. He was also a former member of Kansas Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association, National Select Morticians, the United Way Board, Interstate Fair and Rodeo Board, the Salvation Army Advisory Board, Coffeyville Regional Medical Center Foundation and NRA. Ron enjoyed spending time at his farm in Chautauqua County and off-roading in Colorado. He was an avid supporter of KU and CCC athletics. Survived by wife, Marilyn; four daughters, Denise Phil Wintjen, Coffeyville, Debbie Brian Walter, Lawrence, Melanie Steve Turner, St. Charles, Illinois and Melinda Wulf, Chicago. There are 6 grandchildren: Sarah and Nick Wintjen, Jakob and Hannah Walter, Andrew and Katie Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Victor Robert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Holy Name Catholic Church the Father Jerome Spexarth, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to Holy Name Catholic Church, CRMC Foundation for Radiation Oncology, or Coffeyville Community College Foundation for the Ron and Marilyn Wulf Scholarship in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
