Rosalind Marie Rapp, 74, of Chillicothe, OH passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at her home. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 19, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Chillicothe with Pastors John Kidnsvatter and Janie Karl officiating. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 2 p.m., at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel with Pastor Jerry Bever officiating. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence, KS under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville, KS. Family suggests that friends give to the Adena Hospice or other charity of their choice in care of Penwell-Gabel. Roz, as she was known to friends and family, was born July 25, 1934 in Independence, Kansas to Albert A. Elliott, Jr. and Mabel Marie Robertson Elliott. She attended elementary school in Dearing, Kansas and Junior and Senior High School in Coffeyville. Roz was a 1952 graduate of Field Kindley High School and continued her education at Coffeyville Community College. She completed her teaching degree at Pittsburg State University in 1956. Later that same year, she began her teaching career, a career that spanned 10 years in Kansas, Minnesota and Nebraska. Roz met John A. Rapp and the couple was married June 4, 1958 at Nowata, Oklahoma. John was stationed at Olathe Naval Air Station as a member of the U.S. Air Force and the family traveled extensively throughout the U.S. due to his military career. In 1989, Rosalind graduated from Labette Community College with an ADN in nursing while working at CRMC in the MedSurg Unit. In 1994, she attained her MS in Gerontology at Wichita State University while working at CRMC. She retired from Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in 1999, but continued part time until December of 2004. She was a member of the Dearing United Methodist Church until it closed in 2005, transferring to Liberty United Methodist until moving to Chillicothe to be with her son and daughter in 2007. Survivors include her son, John A. Rapp, Jr. and his wife, Lynn of Chillicothe, OH; granddaughter, Candace Crow of Port St. Lucie, FL and grandson, Corie Rapp, Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Julie and her husband, John and both parents.
