Roy Coddington, age 103, of Coffeyville, Kansas formerly of Fredonia, Kansas died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Asbury Village in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Fredonia Cemetery with the Reverend Gerald Morris officiating under the direction of the FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas.
The family has suggested memorials to the Asbury Village Life Enrichment Program and contributions may be left at the FordWulfBruns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Roy Coddington was born December 8, 1909 on a cattle ranch in Dewey County, Oklahoma to John Vivian and Mary Emily Wright Coddington. He grew up in Dewey County before moving to Boat Mountain, Arkansas.
On January 3, 1932 Roy and Stella Coddington were married and she preceded him in death in 1939. On February 26, 1944 Roy married Lora B. Tarter in Kansas City where they made their home. The couple then moved to Fredonia, Kansas until 2001 when they moved to Coffeyville, Kansas. Lora preceded him in death on July 24, 2008. Roy was a farmer, drove a school bus for Butts School in Fredonia, Kansas and drove a truck for the Hay Mill. He was a Wilson county Assessor for many years and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter Mary Jane and husband Gerald Morris of Coffeyville, Kansas two sons John Harvey and wife Mary Frances Coddington of Cabool, Missouri and Carl Gene and wife Kathryn DeeAnn Coddington of Cuba, Missouri 10 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents three brothers Carl Albert Coddington, David Wright Coddington and Harley Clinton Coddington two sisters Edith Delcenia Coddington and Fern Lorene Coddington.
