Roy Arthur Copenhaver peacefully departed this earth on December 26, 2020 at his home in Longton, KS.
Roy was born to Thomas Clifford and Grace (Stephens) Copenhaver on September 30, 1926 at the family’s home in Aline, OK and graduated from Dacoma High School. Roy was drafted into the Army during World War II and served from December 5, 1945 through January 31, 1947, primarily in Korea. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal of Honor, and the Army of Occupation Medal. Roy was married to Carmen Edwards in 1955 in 1955, Dorothy Hoover in 1970, and later Sandra George in 1996. Roy was a lifelong farmer, rancher, and business man. He served on various boards and associations. He enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Branson. Roy loved to gamble, women, and a good steak. Even when he could no longer farm himself he looked forward to taking burgers to the farm hands and watching the combines.
Roy’s memories will live on with his long-time friend and brother-in-law Mike Goldberg, a bushel of nephews and nieces and a multitude of friends.
Roy now rests with his parents, his siblings; Hellen, Clifford, Walter, Oscar, John, Jay, and Rachel.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 2:00pm at the Longton Fair Barn. Memorials are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and they may be sent in care of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel 2405 Woodland Ave. Coffeyville, KS 67337.
